There’s something so sweet about those first few days together…
no timelines, no planning stress, just the two of you beginning your new life side by side.

And while your honeymoon doesn’t have to be elaborate to be meaningful, a little thoughtful planning now can help everything feel peaceful, smooth, and joy-filled later.

Let’s walk through a simple honeymoon to-do list so you can focus on what really matters—being together.

1. Choose Your Honeymoon Destination

Before anything else, decide where you want to go.

Do you picture:

  • A quiet cabin tucked in the mountains?

  • A relaxing beachfront escape?

  • A return to a meaningful place (like a mission area)?

  • Or a simple getaway close to home?

Also consider:

  • Your budget

  • Travel time (especially after a busy wedding day!)

  • How restful vs. adventurous you want it to be

Remember… your honeymoon doesn’t need to be extravagant to be unforgettable.
The most important part is that you’re together. đź’•

2. Book Your Flights (If Needed)

If you’re flying, book your tickets early for the best options.

A few helpful tips:

  • Book under your current legal name (usually your maiden name) so it matches your ID

  • If your dates are flexible, you may find better pricing

  • Save digital and printed copies of your tickets

A little preparation here can make your travel day feel much smoother.

3. Reserve Your Stay and Activities

Secure your accommodations ahead of time and keep a copy of your confirmation—either printed or saved on your phone.

You may also want to:

  • Pre-book popular attractions

  • Look for online discounts or bundled deals

  • Plan 1–2 special experiences (but don’t overpack your schedule)

This is one trip where leaving space to just “be” together is just as important as what you plan.

4. Plan How You’ll Handle Money

Today, most couples rely on debit and credit cards, but it’s still wise to plan ahead.

  • Notify your bank of travel plans to avoid frozen accounts

  • Bring at least one backup card

  • Check international fees and compatibility if traveling abroad

  • Carry a small amount of local currency for meals, tips, or transportation

If traveling internationally, having enough cash for your first 24 hours can be especially helpful.

5. Prepare for International Travel (If Applicable)

If you’re heading outside the country, take care of these details early:

  • Make sure your passport is valid (or apply as soon as possible)

  • Check visa requirements for your destination

  • Review travel safety and health recommendations

  • Refill prescriptions before leaving

A little preparation here brings a lot of peace of mind once you arrive.

6. If You’re Driving, Prep Your Car

Planning a road trip honeymoon? A quick vehicle check can make all the difference.

Before you go:

  • Have your car inspected

  • Check your spare tire

  • Pack jumper cables and a flashlight

  • Bring a phone charger for the car

Also make sure your:

  • License

  • Registration

  • Insurance

are all current. A roadside assistance plan is a wise backup, just in case.

7. Pack Thoughtfully (Start a List Early!)

Start a packing list a week or two ahead of time so nothing gets forgotten.

Include essentials like:

  • Clothing for your activities

  • Swimsuit or hiking shoes (if needed)

  • Toiletries and medications

  • Camera or phone charger

  • A journal (such a sweet keepsake đź’›)

  • Scriptures

If you’ve been sealed in the temple, you might also consider bringing:

  • Your temple recommend

  • A temple bag, if you’d like to attend during your honeymoon

(For many couples, that becomes one of the most meaningful moments of the trip.)

8. Check the Weather Before You Go

A few days before departure, check the forecast for your destination.

This helps you:

  • Pack appropriately

  • Avoid overpacking

  • Feel more prepared for your trip

Even a quick weather check can save you from bringing the wrong things—or missing something important.

A Sweet Reminder Before You Go

Planning ahead helps everything run smoothly…
but don’t forget the heart of your honeymoon.

This is your time to:

  • Slow down

  • Laugh together

  • Talk about your future

  • Simply enjoy being husband and wife

Go through this list together, help lighten each other’s load, and step into this new chapter with peace, joy, and excitement.

Because this isn’t just a trip…
it’s the very beginning of your life together.
