Any wedding invitation needs to include a few basics:

  • the names of the host(s)

  • the bride and groom’s names

  • the date, time, and location of the wedding and/or reception

Finding just the right wording is always a little tricky, but if the temple is part of your wedding plans, you may find yourself with even more questions. What should you include? How formal does it need to be? Can you still reflect your personality and faith?

Tip: If you're being sealed in the temple, you may want to send out two types of invitations—one for close friends and family who are invited to the sealing and reception, and another for those invited to the reception or open house only. It's totally normal!

Whatever your situation, here are some sample LDS wedding invitation wording ideas you can use as inspiration. Each one is formatted like a real printed invitation to make things easy:

A Note About Inserts

Want to include registry info, directions, or a note that this is an adults-only or alcohol-free event? That’s best left to an enclosure card or insert. Keep your main invitation sacred and uncluttered—it sets the tone.

Final Thoughts

And remember: the most important thing is the covenant you’re making. Your wedding invitation is just your way of sharing that joy with the people who matter most.
