6 Weeks Before the Wedding: It’s Getting Real (and Wonderful)

Six weeks out? You’re officially in the homestretch—and your role as the father of the bride just got real.

Things are starting to move quickly. Appointments. Confirmations. Emotions. But don’t worry—we’re walking through this together. At this stage, your focus is to keep things on track while continuing to be the calm, steady presence your daughter (and her mother!) may need.

Here’s what to focus on 6 weeks before the wedding:

Confirm & Double-Check Key Details

  • Reconfirm the wedding date and time with the temple (and note the arrival time for your family).
  • Verify all travel arrangements—especially for out-of-town guests.
  • Double-check that the reception venue, caterer, photographer, and florist are all scheduled and have the right timeline and location.
  • Confirm your hotel accommodations and those of any relatives or VIP guests.

Finalize Your Own Wedding Day Attire

This one’s easy to forget in the flurry of wedding details. Make sure your temple recommend is up to date and your suit or tux is ready to go. Need to rent or buy something? Now’s the time.

Bonus tip: Don’t forget the shoes! And socks. It’s always the socks.

Help with the Photo Plan

Meet with your daughter and her photographer (or videographer) to review the shot list. Offer input on must-have moments—like walking your daughter out of the temple, candid family laughter, or a quiet father-daughter hug before the reception.

Offer Practical & Emotional Support

This time can feel overwhelming for your daughter and her fiancé. Help wherever you can—but more importantly, just be there. A reassuring “You’ve got this” can mean the world.

Remember: your steadiness is part of what makes this such a sacred and joyful time.

Final Thought

You’re not just checking off a list. You’re helping create the day your daughter has dreamed of. With faith, love, and a little preparation, these next few weeks can be full of connection and joy—for your whole family.
