Father of the Bride Checklist: The Wedding Day
Stay Spiritually Grounded
Start the day with prayer. You may even want to fast for a portion of the day. Keep your focus on your daughter, your faith, and the covenants being made.
Manage the Schedule (So She Doesn’t Have To)
Work with her maid of honor, wedding planner, or other point person to confirm the timeline. Double-check temple appointments, ring ceremony details, and reception flow.
Be Ready for Photos
Wear what she’s asked—whether that’s a suit, tux, or something temple-appropriate—and be ready with a clean shave, polished shoes, and a heartfelt smile.
Escort Duties
You may be asked to escort your daughter in photos, at the ring ceremony, or even for a symbolic walk down the aisle. Support her wishes. Some brides want this moment, some don’t—and either way is okay.
Speak or Toast with Love
If you're giving a toast or saying a few words, keep it short, faith-filled, and heartfelt. Focus on your love for her, your support of the couple, and the joy of seeing her sealed for eternity.
Protect the Peace
Be the calm in the swirl of emotion. Handle little hiccups behind the scenes. Smile through surprises. Create a day of peace for your daughter—she’ll always remember it.
Have a Tissue (or Two)
It’s okay to feel all the things. Just don’t forget to bring tissues.
